Congressman Moore’s Budget Reform Legislation Passes the House Budget Committee

WASHINGTON— Congressman Blake Moore (R-Utah) released the following statement after the House Budget Committee passed his Fiscal State of the Nation Act by voice vote:

“The Fiscal State of the Nation Act is a commonsense bill that will bring much needed transparency and accountability to how Congress approaches our debt and deficit crisis,” said Congressman Moore. “I am thrilled my legislation was included in this package of bills that aim to address our federal budgeting process. I thank Chairman Jodey Arrington and Ranking Member Brendan Boyle for their support of this bill, and I look forward to pushing it through the finish line as we work toward fiscal responsibility in Washington.”

The Fiscal State of the Nation Act will enhance public awareness of the nation’s debt and deficit crisis and highlight bipartisan opportunities to rein in wasteful federal spending. Through this legislation, the Comptroller General would be required to come before Congress in a Joint Meeting to annually deliver a nonpartisan, objective, and public analysis of the nation’s finances. The legislation would also require that a statement of findings be included in the concurrent resolution on the budget each year."
