Internships

Our office is always accepting applications from college students or recent graduates interested in participating in an internship, and some may receive academic credit through their institution. These internships provide a great opportunity to learn how the Legislative Branch operates. Interns in the District Office will have the opportunity to learn about constituent interaction, work with federal agencies, log constituent phone responses, assist in office outreach, conduct issue research, and assist with Military Academy nominations. By assisting the Congressman’s staff, interns in the Washington, D.C., office will have an opportunity to learn about the legislative process and the federal government by working closely with the legislative, communications, and constituent services staff members. Interns help answer phone calls, respond to constituent correspondence, facilitate Capitol tours, and conduct research. Residents from the First District and area college students, regardless of major, are given preference in our internship programs.

Internship sessions mirror college semesters: spring, summer, and fall. For more information about the internship programs in Washington or Ogden, please contact Reuben Mendenhall at 801-625-0107 or Reuben.Mendenhall@mail.house.gov.
