Congressman Blake Moore Applauds the Final House Passage of the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act Conference Report
WASHINGTON – Today, the House of Representatives passed the conference report to accompany H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024.
Consistent with the funding levels agreed upon in the Fiscal Responsibility Act, the NDAA authorizes $886.3 billion in national defense discretionary programs, which will bolster U.S. defense capabilities, strengthen the mission assignments of Hill Air Force Base (HAFB), and provide the necessary resources for our armed forces to defend against our adversaries.
“Today I voted for the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act for the hardworking men and women at Hill Air Force Base,” said Congressman Blake Moore. “It is an honor to represent the second largest Air Force base in the nation and to work with Hill leadership to address their priorities on the federal level. This legislation includes massive wins for Hill and our armed forces at large to ensure they have the resources they need to protect our homeland and national security interests, and I will continue to collaborate with Utah’s servicemembers on ways we can best support their mission.”
The conference report includes key wins for HAFB, including:
- Full funding for the LGM-35A Sentinel program, the replacement program for the outdated Minuteman III ICBMs that will bring nearly 4,000 jobs to northern Utah;
- $82 million for the construction of the F-35 T-7A East Campus infrastructure project, which would support F-35 maintenance, repair, and training facilities as well as a new depot complex; and
- $14.2 million for a new open storage area for the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Center, which will support F-35 maintenance and the long-term health of the LGM-35A Sentinel program.
This bill advocates for our servicemembers across the nation by raising basic pay by 5.2%, the largest pay raise in 20 years. It also increases the Basic Allowance for Housing for junior enlisted servicemembers and allocates $280 million for new schools for military families. The FY24 NDAA supports our allies by extending weapons transfer and precision-guided munitions to Israel, funding the Pacific Deterrence Initiative, creating military training programs with Taiwan, and implementing the AUKUS agreement. The legislation approves the FY24 Intelligence Authorization Act and pushes back on the Biden Administration’s agenda to push its radical ideology on our military and their families, including stopping the teaching of CRT, limiting DEI bureaucracy, disallowing drag shows, preventing a Military Green New Deal, and more.
